On-The-Bike (OTB) Skills

Coaches will learn the progressive steps needed to teach both basic and advanced mountain biking skills, experiential teaching techniques, how to accommodate different learning styles and how to create a positive learning environment for young riders. Sessions being held all around WI.

First Aid/CPR Courses

These courses are designed for coaches aiming for Level 2 or Level 3 certification, as they include the required wilderness aspects of the Level 3 coaches training.

Level 1 coaches may also consider a local program, such as American Red Cross, to meet the requirement for Level 2.

Next Leader’s Summit coming in May

The NICA Coach Licensing Staff is offering live, online leader summit sessions so that you can get the necessary core requirements for your level 3 coach license or the continuing education units needed to maintain your current coach license. These sessions will be offered at varying times to accommodate your busy schedules. This is the last offering until the fall so get on board now!

GRiT Retreat: Coaches | May 13-15

This a weekend at Hartman Creek State Park is focused on getting more girls on bikes! This clinic is open to female coaches with a minimum of level 1 coach certificate within the Wisconsin NICA League. We will offer OTB 101 and OTB 201 to up your skills and coach certification as well as receive CEUs. This weekend includes camping, meals, skills coaching, games, ways to recruit more girls to your team, and so much more! Friday and Saturday is time for the coaches and Sunday student athletes arrive and join the fun!

Coach Training: BIKEPACKING | June 10-12

1.	The next level of Adventure is coming to Wisconsin! BIKEPACKING! We have a coaches only training camp planned for June 10-12 in Upper Michigan. Then this group will lead student athletes on a similar experience in the Cable/Seely/Hayward area August 12-14.

Coach Training: Adventure and Day Camp | June 18

Coach’s training camp at Trek Trails is an opportunity to connect with your fellow coaches from across the Wisconsin League while reviewing the best practices for holding NICA camps and adventure rides. Adventure Coordinator, Joe FitzGibbon, and Coach Supporter, Mike McGarry, will lead NICA training programs in the morning or afternoon. Following the programming there will be an optional group ride, campfire chat, dinner and overnight camping.
