Wisconsin GRiT is taking names!
Wisconsin GRiT (Girls riding together) is looking for women coaches that are interested in getting more girls on bikes. You don’t need a lot of coaching experience. You don’t need to be a head coach. You just need to have a passion for riding and getting more girls on bikes. This year we are working on fun events and activities, across the state, that will encourage more girls to ride their bikes and join NICA. Please fill out the form at this link to show your interest.
We will add you to our list of interested GRiT Coaches in Wisconsin.
The first event will be a GRiT Camp in May. You won’t want to miss it because it is going to be AWWWESOME!
I look forward to receiving your responses! Angela Brooks Wisconsin GRiT Coordinator

Overnight Camping Program
Our camping events will focused on getting students and coaches to ride trails that the athletes might not otherwise visit. To use the camp as a way to get out to these trails and explore them in a way that has nothing to do with the clock. To meet other riders from around the league and build relationships in the mountain bike community, and to really spend time going longer and deeper into woods than they may have before. Joe FitzGibbon (our League Camping Director) is currently recruiting coaches and ride leaders for the 2021 Wisconsin Adventure Mountain Bike Camps tentatively scheduled for the following dates and locations. 1. July 16-18 (Mt Ashwabay) 2. September 17-19 (Hayward)
Mountain Bike Camp will consist of several rider groups participating in three days of adventurous and challenging mountain biking, camping, activities, presentations, games, and most importantly fun. A lead coach and assistant coach will mentor a group of six to eight accomplished student athletes. There are ten coaching positions open at camp. Five lead coach positions and five assistant coach positions.
If you are a Licensed NICA Coach and would like to get involved at the league level, or if you’d like more information and training holding some camping events for your team, please email Joe Fitzgibbon

Teen Trail Corp
We have some fantastic opportunities for our student athletes to show their love and support for our trails! We need local coaches to coordinate these opportunities. NICA Teen Trail Corp provides our coaches the support to assist athletes through achievement goals, awards and recognition. As coaches we will need to develop team activities working with the student athletes and trail stewards. Each team is asked to appoint a coach to lead these TTC activities. I am here to help! Our league coaches work with local trail stewards to provide opportunities for our student athletes to achieve the NICA TTC badges of Speak, Serve, Ride, and Respect. I will provide suggestions for TTC coaches to create activities and recognition. Athletes achieving the four badges can earn the award of TTC Champion with their coach’s support. More information will be shared during the Leaders Summits and coach meetings and retreats.
For more information on how to get involved at the League level or to bring the program to your team, please email our WI League Teen Trail Corp Director.
If we ride them, we need to show a little NICA love. Happy Trails make Happy Athletes

NEW USA CYCLING BENEFITS FOR NICA STUDENT ATHLETES
USA Cycling announced a formal sponsorship of NICA in January. According to a press release on the USA Cycling website, benefits for NICA student athletes include:
Free USA Cycling Junior memberships for league student-athletes, and discounted Family memberships, to reduce barriers and encourage participation at more local events.
Recognition of NICA league event results in the USAC ranking system. This will facilitate Regional and National Championship call-ups and optimize the opportunity for riders to compete in a variety of events.
